Tom has recently released his debut instrumental album entitled Hess Opus 1 on M.A.C.E. Music. ( Michael Angelo's Record Label )
The album is Progressive and Neoclassical. Very rich in harmony, interesting odd meters, compositionally well thought out and alot of nice improvisation put together in some very logical and creative forms with some cool counterpoint I might add! Think Romantic harmony with some modern rythms and meters. There's some nice clean guitar work as well. Bravo Tom! You can purchase the album or get more info by contacting M.A.C.E. Tom is one of the most ambitious students I have ever had. He is very, very dedicated and hard working, constantly striving to be not just a better guitar player, but a better musician.Tom has been teaching private guitar for a number of years now in the Cary, IL. area. Tom has recently graduated from Roosevelt University's School Of Music! A huge congratulations! Tom constantly stood up to his teachers for what he truly believed in. Being truly modern and creative, yet tonal. Tom's a true composer, believing that one does not have to resort to atonality to be unique and inventive. But having said that, I must admit I hear some Marty Friedman influence in there to. And we all know about Marty and his microtonality. Tom uses a variety of Flying V's and Star shaped (Diamond Darell style) guitars. Contact Tom for more info on gigs, getting a copy of his cd, or just letting him know what you thought of his sound clips, he'd love to here from you so drop him an email. Email Tom hess@mc.net |
